Urban Refuge: Opening Doors to Help

This Urban Refuge workshop is tailored for individuals seeking to explore the transformative power of asking for help amidst the urban chaos. The workshop comprises two sessions, where participants will delve into the art of repurposing recycled materials to create a symbolically rich streetscape. Each session spans 2 hours, offering an immersive journey into the hidden depths of compassion and support.

In vulnerability, we find strength; in asking for help, we discover resilience.

Revealing Beneath the Surface

The workshop will embody a conscious theme of “Asking for Help,” ingeniously interwoven into the creative process. As participants embark on their crafting odyssey, they’ll encounter closed and seemingly inhospitable “houses” that reflect the facade of urban isolation. However, through the act of opening doors and windows, participants will uncover a wealth of messages offering help and support nestled within. Guided by a serene meditation at the outset, participants will be encouraged to contemplate the transformative power of vulnerability and reaching out for assistance.

Crafting Connections in Concrete

In the workshop, participants will harness the humble cardboard box to construct a miniature urban street, shrouded in the greyness of indifference. Techniques such as cutting, wrapping, painting, and writing will be explored, allowing participants to imbue their creations with poignant symbolism. Despite the initial appearance of desolation, each house will serve as a vessel for messages of kindness and support, waiting to be discovered by those willing to open their hearts.

Building Bridges of Empathy

By the workshop’s conclusion, participants will have collectively constructed a striking streetscape adorned with closed “houses,” each concealing a hidden treasure trove of supportive messages. This end result serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the boundless potential for compassion within even the most desolate urban landscapes.

Concrete Jungle offers more than just a crafting experience; it’s a sanctuary where participants can explore the profound impact of asking for help and uncover the hidden wellsprings of support within their communities. Join us in opening doors to a world of empathy and connection amidst the concrete jungle.
