The giving starts before the gift.
Some of the most valuable things we ever receive cost nothing at all. A friend who stayed when it would have been easier to leave. Someone who took you as you were, without asking you to be different first. A person who saw something in you and gave you a chance before you had proved anything. None of it came wrapped yet years later it is still with you.
Giving like this rarely feels like giving at the time. It shows up as patience on a busy day, as attention when someone is not quite themselves, as an open door or a kind word that arrives at the right moment. It asks less of your purse than of your notice: seeing the person in front of you and what might matter to them.
When you start to count what you have been given, it becomes easier to see what you already carry. The warmth, the steadiness, the humour, the willingness to make room for someone else. These are yours to pass on, and the passing on begins long before anything changes hands.
meditation
A quiet look at the small things people have given you and how long they stay. It moves gently to the people around you and what you would hand them if giving were easy, then turns to the gifts you already carry. Giving and being gifted sit side by side.

1 Think of some different priceless gifts you have received, something that never came wrapped, like a friendship, being accepted as you are or someone giving you a chance. Who was it from, and what did it give you? Think of a few.
2 Which priceless gift could you give to someone else, and who would you give it to?
