Conscious Crafting as Envisioned by Suzan McCreadie

Conscious Crafting is a social enterprise offering creative workshops founded in October 2022 by Suzan McCreadie. After selling her digital marketing company, INKFISH, she wanted to do something creative and fulfilling. Inspired by process art courses and many upcycle and craft projects, Conscious Crafting aims to provide a meaningful and enjoyable experience for participants of all backgrounds and abilities.

Suzans’ first upcycle project was a jeans bag for her school books.

The Journey

Suzan McCreadie, a Dutch graphic designer, landed in Cape Town, South Africa, with nothing but a backpack after studying graphic design in Groningen. After 22 years, Suzan and her family moved to Ireland. In September 2022, Conscious Crafting held its first workshops at the Waterford Primary Care Clinic. This opened the door to other organizations in Waterford and surrounding counties. Various passionate creative women have since taken over the role of facilitators while Suzan concentrates on developing more creative workshops and online material.

The Creative Team

Conscious Crafting is led by founder Suzan McCreadie and supported by various passionate and trained facilitators. You can find the current team on this page.

Connecting the dots

The workshops are suitable for people with minor disabilities, mental health patients, kids and teenagers, the elderly and those looking to broaden their creative horizons or deepen their self-knowledge. The workshops offer a lighthearted and simplistic approach to a deep meditative experience, depending on the participants.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Suzan’s lifelong experience of being thrifty with good taste and having little patience, along with her love for repurposing, saw new possibilities for discarded items and creating art with natural objects, forms the foundation of the workshops. Conscious Crafting offers creative workshops that aim to provide a meaningful and enjoyable experience for participants. At the same time, different ways to look at trash as well as different art techniques are introduced.

Irish Organisations

Conscious Crafting workshops have been well received by organizations in Waterford, including the Waterford Primary Care Clinic and got the nod of approval from the Waterford Wexford Education and Training Board.
