Exploring healthy relationships through colour and connection

This Spirals of Light workshop is designed for community groups, wellness programs, and volunteer organisations interested in fostering connection, reflection, and collaborative art-making. The workshop consists of four sessions where participants will assemble pre-woven stars into large spiral patterns, creating a visually striking and symbolic installation. Each session is 2 hours, and all materials are provided.

A Journey of Colour and Meaning

The workshop will incorporate a conscious theme of healthy relationships, which will be introduced with a guided meditation at the beginning of each session. The spirals, formed through layering and blending colours, will reflect the complexity and beauty of human connections. Participants will explore transitions from individual tones to mixed shades, symbolising the interplay of diverse experiences within relationships. Optional journaling and group discussions at the end of each session provide further opportunities to reflect on themes of unity and support.

In the workshop, participants will use pre-woven stars and wire mesh forms to create colour-shaded spiral designs. Techniques will include planning layouts, sorting and arranging colours, and securing stars with ties or wire. All conscious crafting workshops are suited for people with no creative experience or skills. Participants will receive step-by-step guidance and be encouraged to adapt the design to suit their perspectives and preferences, ensuring each spiral is both collective and personal.

A Lasting Reflection

At the end of the workshop, participants will have contributed to a large-scale spiral installation. This collaborative artwork will not only serve as a powerful visual representation of healthy relationships but also as a reminder of the importance of connection, unity, and reflection.
