Exploring individuality and unity through vibrant fish design
This Fins in Formation workshop is perfect for classes, community groups, or individuals looking to explore creativity and connection. Participants will design and paint vibrant fish on pre-cut pallet wood, celebrating their unique creativity while contributing to a larger vision. Whether creating a single fish, multiple pieces, or working collaboratively on a group display, this workshop offers flexibility for all skill levels and interests. It consists of two sessions, each lasting two hours, with all materials provided.
Small ripples create big waves
from single ripples to shared waves
The workshop integrates the conscious theme of The Ripple Effect, introduced with a guided meditation at the start of each session. Participants are invited to reflect on how individual actions and creativity ripple outward, influencing those around them. For groups, this theme is expressed through the possibility of assembling the fish into a collaborative art piece—a school of fish swimming together. However, participants can also choose to create and keep their own fish designs, embracing the theme on a personal level.
Designing patterns, building connections
Participants will use pre-cut pallet wood fish shapes and acrylic paints to create their designs. Techniques include sketching patterns, blending colours, and layering paint for texture. Facilitators will guide the process step-by-step, making it accessible for all, while encouraging personalisation and exploration. Each participant can decide whether to work on a single fish, a few complementary pieces, or contribute to a group display, offering a balance of individuality and collaboration.
Art for one, or for all
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will leave with uniquely designed and painted fish. These can be displayed individually as a personal keepsake or joined with others to form a collaborative art piece that symbolises community and unity. The option to create multiple fish or contribute to a shared display ensures that the experience is tailored to each participant’s preference. The artwork serves as a reminder of The Ripple Effect, highlighted by the affirmation: Small ripples create big waves.
