Create Your Own Irish Keepsake
This Celtic Symbols workshop is designed for families and visitors to Ireland who want to explore the rich cultural meanings behind Celtic symbols. Through one or two 2-hour sessions, participants will be guided to connect with a single symbol that resonates with them personally. They will deepen their understanding of this symbol and create an inspired artwork to represent it. All materials, including watercolour paints and mixed media, will be provided.
May the road rise up to meet you, and may your heart be full of strength and unity as you journey through life.
Connecting with Celtic Heritage
At the start of each session, a guided meditation will introduce the participants to various irish landscapes. These landscapes each symbolise various aspects of different traditional Celtic symbols — such as the Trinity Knot, Celtic Cross, Awen, Double Spiral, Shield Knot, St. Brigid’s Cross, Claddagh, Spiral, Dara Knot, Tree of Life, Horse and Five Fold Knot. Through reflection, each participant will discover the symbol that speaks to them most deeply, setting the stage for their creative journey. An info sheet about the symbol will enhance the personal exploration of the chosen symbol.
Expressing with Watercolour and Mixed Media
Participants will be provided with materials and gentle guidance as they express their chosen Celtic symbol through watercolour and other mixed media. The workshop is not focused on teaching artistic techniques but on providing the inspiration, materials, and support for participants to express their connection to the symbol. Each person’s artwork will be a personal and unique representation of their symbol.
A Personal Piece of Celtic Heritage
By the end of the workshop, participants will have created their own artwork featuring the Celtic symbol that they personally connected with. This piece will serve as both a creative expression and a meaningful reminder of their experience, and the Celtic heritage explored during the session.
