Exploring depth through botanical printing and reflective journalling
This reflective and hands-on workshop offers participants an opportunity to slow down and gently explore what supports, nourishes, and uplifts them. Suitable for group settings such as wellness events, team wellbeing days, or seasonal community gatherings, it combines simple printmaking techniques with guided reflection and personal expression. The session is designed to suit adults of all ages and backgrounds, with no need for creative experience or prior knowledge.
Every layer reveals nature’s quiet strength.
Rooted and Reflective
The workshop incorporates a conscious theme of self-awareness and emotional grounding, explored through the metaphor of layered support. Beginning with a guided meditation, participants are invited to connect inward and consider the foundations of their wellbeing — from the non-negotiables that keep them steady, to the things that bring them joy and lightness. These reflections are mapped in a simple layered journalling exercise that encourages gentle introspection. Towards the end, participants are welcome to share insights in a safe and inclusive circle, though this is always optional.
Pressed for Meaning
Participants will use fresh and dried plants, gelliprinting plates, and natural papers to build up layered botanical prints. These layered impressions echo the journal themes, creating visual depth and subtle textures through the process of monoprinting. The activity is accessible and guided throughout, making it particularly suited to those who may feel uncertain about art-making. Personalisation is encouraged — participants select their plants, play with colour, and crop their print into a small framed piece to take home.
Something to hold Onto
By the end of the session, each participant will have a unique framed print — a tangible outcome of a gentle process of reflection and expression. This framed piece serves not just as a visual memento but as a reminder of what grounds and energises them. The workshop encourages mindful engagement and supports a sense of calm presence that may ripple gently into the days that follow.
