Piecing Together Clues
This “Who, Where, When, What and Why” workshop is designed for teens, young adults and language learners who want to enhance their storytelling skills. The workshop consists of multiple sessions where participants receive a brief crime description with minimal detail. Based on images found in magazines, they will put together a collage with various clues to the full story. They will write their 5Ws on a journal sheet, keeping it secret, allowing other people to guess the full story. Each session is 2 hours, and all materials are provided.
Piece together the story of a crime using the 5 Ws
Who, What, Where, When, and Why To enhance your StoryTelling Skills
Setting the Scene
The workshop will incorporate a conscious theme of storytelling skills, which will be brought into the space with a guided meditation at the beginning of each session. This meditation will focus on the principles of the 5Ws, creating a framework for participants to build their stories. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on this theme through journaling and optional sharing at the end of the workshop.
Crafting the Mystery
In the workshop, participants will learn how to use magazines, scissors, and glue sticks to create collages. They will apply these materials and techniques to piece together the 5 Ws of their crime descriptions. All conscious crafting workshops are suited for people with no creative experience or skills, and we encourage a positive attitude towards everyone’s work. This is not an art class; instead, participants will receive guidance through the process step-by-step and be encouraged to personalize their artwork with their own insights and flair.
The Grand Reveal
At the end of the workshop, participants will have created an investigator board, serving as a starting point for a guessing game where others can look at the board and attempt to uncover the 5 Ws. This investigator board will not only serve as a unique personal piece of art but also as a reminder of the meaningful experience they had and the storytelling skills they enhanced through this engaging and creative process.
